100 Prints Project #58 - Mary's Hands

Those of you who follow the blog or know me well know that I am drawn to cemeteries.  I find them peaceful and beautiful, like stone gardens that are lovingly tended.  Some days I am most interested in the architecture and the long shadows that the light creates, but some days it is the statues that speak to me the most.  On this particular day I couldn't get past these hands of Mary - folded in prayer, gentle yet strong - strong enough to carry many burdens and sorrows - like all women who are mothers themselves.

Jane, thank you for sharing this with us. You've communicated warmth and substance in your image and thoughts. Very affecting.
