Simply Hardware #4 - Light tubes

Probably one of the images that provoked the most conversation of all of my hardware photos. People at the exhibit opening would look at the photo and then ask what it was. When I told them it was fluorescent light bulbs, they would look puzzled and then ask me to take them into the store and show them where I found them. Standing in front of the box, invariably they would scratch their heads and ask "how did you see that"? I never have a good answer for that one. I don't know why I see things in a way that other people do not or why I don't see what other folks see. I'm gradually making peace with that mystery and trying to embrace it instead of wondering what makes me defective. I hope you enjoy the image. I have a few more hardware images to come and then some fun stuff from Holy week at church after that.

  1. Long ago I quit asking, "how did you see that?" Started asking, "what can I learn from how you see this?" I learn alot from how my photobuddies see the world.

By the way, The telephone is still my favorite.

  2. I love that about you, your unique perspective. So glad to see you here, I'd missed you. Love your black and white images, it's as though they tell a story.

  3. Defective?! Hardly!
How about perceptive, observant, astute, discerning, gifted. Those fit so much better!

  4. OMG, she's alive!! Good to see you back with some classic b&w and the awesome/crazy Jane-o-vision. Finding beauty in the mundane is a gift. People get it or they don't and you don't need to worry about the ones who don't, for they are small and unimportant.

You have such a fantastic perspective on the images you take pictures of. I think photographers see the world in ways others may not! This is wonderful!

  6. One of my favorite things about your photography is the fact that you have such a unique way of making ordinary things turn into art. I love trying to guess what it is you took a picture of and once you point it out it's like a AHA moment!

  7. This one is really mysterious. If I looked just at the title and the picture, I would not have got it. After reading your notes only I could see the tubes. :-)
